Samuel Opoku Nti, the General Manager of Asante Kotoko has rubbished claims that the Porcupine Warriors are underdogs ahead of Monday’s Super 2 Clash.
Analysis of many pundits ahead of the tricky encounter has gone the way of Hearts Of Oak following their remarkable start to the 2015/16 Premier League season.
The Phobians also occupy the second position on the league log on 18 points, two points adrift of leaders Wa All Stars as against Kotoko who lie 9th on the table with 11 points out of nine games played so far.
Interim head coach of the Reds, Michael Osei has rejected the underdog tag given to his team as they head into Monday’s game and the General Manager of the club has jumped to echoed what Osei’s analysis on the game.
According to Opoku Nti, the Porcupine Warriors have what it takes to silence Hearts at their home grounds, noting that Kotoko would emerge winners if they take their chances.
‘’We played well against New Edubiase, the fact that we lost doesn’t mean we didn’t play well. I think we didn’t take our chances. Kotoko and Hearts matches anything can happen. I don’t think Hearts are favourites. Hearts are not favourites, I won’t buy it,’’ he said to Luv FM
He called on the supporters to rally behind the team.
‘’They should remember the team in their prayers and keep their fingers cross, webelieve that at the end of the day we will come out with flying colours after 90 minutes.’’
Kotoko have secured two victories against Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium since 2009, with the rest ending in draws.
