Hearts of Oak will test the might of Aduana Stars as they both seek to clinch the GHALCA 6 tournament, whereas disappointed Asante Kotoko will settle for a third-place play-off on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
Hearts of Oak are without a win, but have managed to reach the final of the competition, via penalty shootout victory against their archrivals, Asante Kotoko after their semi-finals game ended one all in Kumasi last weekend: The Phobians who were drawn in the same group with Aduana Stars lost 0-1 against the Dormaa Boys and drew 1-1 against Medeama to finish second in the group with a superior goal difference against Medeama.
Aduana Stars have won all their three games thus far: beat Hearts of Oak 1-0, before hammering Medeama 2-0 and crowned it with a 1-0 victory against Bechem United to reach the final, so they are yet to concede a goal in the competition.
Aduana Stars reached the final of the G6 last year, but lost 0-1 to Asante Kotoko.
On their way to the final last year, Hearts of Oak were one of the teams they defeated to get closer to the title and they have done it this time around
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will face Bechem United in the third-place play-off at 3:00pm at the same venue.
This is going to be a rematch of their group stage encounter. The Porcupine Warriors defeated the Bechem lads 3-0, before they edged Wa All Stars 2-0 to top the group, but they were defeated on penalties, after their game against Hearts of Oak ended 1-1.
Asante Kotoko are the defending champions of the G6 tournament: They piped Aduana Stars 1-0 in the final last season.
