The Black Stars of Ghana have sealed their qualification for next year’s AFCON championship after beating Mauritius 2-0 in Port Louis on Sunday.
The four-time African champions dominated the home side from onset but it was Mauritius goalkeeper who prevented the West African giants from scoring.
Both sides failed to score as the first half was brought to an end but Ghana playing without their leading marksman Asamoah Gyan was clearly on top.
Avram Grant side in the second half re-strategized as they improved their performance and in the 70 minute stand-in captain Andre Ayew broke the deadlock with a neat finish.
Two minutes later Christian Atsu doubled Ghana’s lead after he connected home Baba Rahman’s cut back cross.
Chances were far and few as Ghana protected their two goal lead to win the game.
The Black Stars now top Group H with 13 points and their final game is against Rwanda which will be played in September this year.
