GHPL Week 19: Hearts Pip Hasaacas To Go Top, Kotoko Share The Spoils With Bechem United

Hearts of Oak piped Sekondi Hasaacas 1-0 at the Essipong Sports Stadium on Sunday on match day 19 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League.

The hard fought win thus sent the Phobians to the top of the log sheet with 34 points.

Hasaacas playing at home dominated the Phobians early in the game but Hearts of Oak defenders kept their attackers at bay.

The Phobians then improved their performance and they came close in scoring the first goal but Isaac Mensah’s shot at goal was blocked by Cosmos Dauda.

Chances were far and few as the first half ended 0-0.

In the second half, Hearts of Oak made their intention clear and they struck the first goal in the 59 minute through an audacious back heel from Cosmos Dauda.

However, with 15 minutes left on the clock the Phobians who had already exhausted all their substitutions were forced to play with ten after the goal scorer picked up an injury.

But the Accra giants despite their numerical disadvantage defended well to win the game.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko were held to a pulsating goalless draw game by Bechem United.

Prior to the game, the Porcupine Warriors were heavily tipped to pick the three points against the Bechem based club but they failed to run over Manuel Zacharia’s side who left Kumasi with a point.
