Hearts of Oak earned well deserve 1-1 draw at Aduana Stars to maintain their lead at the top after match day 13 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League.
It was a top of the table clash as both sides were delight to watch from the start of the game but the home side were slightly on top.
Zakara Mumuni troubled Hearts of Oak’s left-back Kennedy Appiah with his pace – the home side’s dominance paid off in the 18 minute after Emmanuel Akuoko connected home Godfred Saka’s free-kick to register the first goal for the ‘Ogya Lads’.
Aduana Stars created three more chances but they failed to put the ball at the back of the net as the Phobians had little to do in the game.
From the recess, the Phobians improved their performance as they pushed the home side back, but they looked resolute at the back as the Accra giants’ attackers were heavily policed.
Hearts of Oak kept on the pressure in search of the equalizer and they had it in the 68 minute after Cosmos Dauda tucked home a cross from Samuel Yeboah.
After the goal, Aduana Stars mounted intense pressure with the aim of restoring their lead but the Phobians defended well as the game ended 1-1.
At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko continued with their fine form as they piped 10 man Inter Allies by a goal to nil.
The first half of the crunchy game produced no goals as the Tema based side were resolute at the back as they kept Kotoko attackers at bay.
Kotoko re-strategized in the second half as they dominated the game. However, the away side were reduced to ten men after Sulley Mohammed received his yellow card in the game.
The Porcupine Warriors took advantage of the numerical disadvantage of Inter Allies as they struck the first goal courtesy Amos Frimpong’s spot kick in the 67 minute.
Kotoko couldn’t double their lead while Inter Allies also failed to pull even as the game ended 1-0 infavor the Kumasi giants.
