GPL Week 17: Kotoko Pip Wa All Stars, Liberty Draw 1-1 With Hearts of Oak

Herali
Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways by beating Wa All Stars 1-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Both sides went into the game with high hopes but it was the Kumasi giants who dominated play but they failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The away side also had their moment but the home side’s defense men led by Amos Frimpong were up to the task as the first half ended scoreless.

Kotoko piled more pressure on Wa All Stars and Amos Frimpong capped his wonderful display by scoring the home side’s only goal in the game – 15 minutes after the break.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, ten-man Liberty Professionals held Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw game at their adapted Accra stadium.

Cosmos Dauda registered his seventh goal in the ongoing campaign by scoring the first goal for the Phobians in the 35th minute after he was put through on goal by Samudeen Ibrahim.

But Liberty Professionals restored parity four minutes after the break courtesy Bernard Arthur but the goal scorer didn’t last the entire duration of the game after receiving his yellow card in the 75th minute.

Despite the home side’s numerical disadvantage they defended well to earn a well-deserved point in the game.
