GPL Week 21: Kotoko Share The Spoils With Hearts of Oak In Kumasi

Asante Kotoko battled for a 1-1 drawn game with Hearts of Oak on match day 21 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

It was a tense game for the hosts after losing 4-1 to Ebusua Dwarfs last Wednesday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on match day 20.

The Phobians started the game on a good note but they got stunned in the 17th minute as Kwame Boateng scored the first goal – the goal came after Soulama Abdoulaye failed to handle Emmanuel Gyamfi’s 20 yards volley and Boateng who was hovering around the Phobians penalty box pounced on the loose ball.

Hearts of Oak did everything they could but they failed to snatch the equalizer in the first half. From the recess the away side piled a lot of pressure on the home side and in the 52nd minute they pulled even, Isaac Mensah put Patrick Razak through on goal, the latter kept his cool to beat Ernest Sowah in post for the Porcupine Warriors.

The Phobians then had few chances to score another goal but their strikers were awful upfront as the game 1-1 in Kumasi.
