Hearts of Oak Pip Chelsea To Maintain Lead, Kotoko Falls Heavily Against Dwarfs

Hearts of Oak left it late to record a slender win in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday as they kept their top spot on the league log.

The Accra based club went into their game against Berekum Chelsea leading the league table by two points ahead of WAFA.

Sergio Tranguil’s team recorded a one nil victory courtesy Kwame Kizito as Hearts took all three points from Berekum Chelsea.

At the Cape Coast Sports Stadium Ebusua Dwarfs thrashed Asante Kotoko 4-1 to keep their survival hope alive.
Bright Lukman, last season’s top scorer of the GN Bank Division One League, climaxed an afternoon of good football with two goals. He opened the scoring in the 16th minute before he doubled the score line four minutes later from a rebound, after Ernest Sowah had failed to make a first time save.

Christopher Boney, a former Asante Kotoko defender, who made a return to Ebusua Dwarfs in the beginning of the second half nailed the Porcupine Warriors in the coffin with the third in the 28 minute.

The woes of Kotoko was deepened in the 35th minute, when Eric Donkor, the stand in skipper of the Kumasi giants in the absence of Amos Frimpong who started the game from the bench was sent off for a second booking.

In the second half Bright Lukman grabbed his brace and Dwarfs’ fourth but Amos Frimnpong reduced the deficit from the spot.
