Ghana Football Association has appointed Maxwell Konadu as Black Stars interim until a new coach is appointed.
The decision regarding Konadu’s appointment was taken at an emergency meeting on Tuesday following Avram Grant’s departure after Ghana’s failure to win the 2017 African Cup of Nations which was held in Gabon.
A statement at the FA website reads:
“Maxwell Konadu will be the caretaker coach of the Black Stars until the substantive coach is named. He will be assisted Professor Joseph Mintah, who will also continue in his role as the team psychologist.”
It will be the second time Konadu has been appointed as Black Stars caretaker coach – the former Asante Kotoko gaffer in 2014 got appointed as interim coach after Kwesi Appiah was sacked following Ghana’s shambolic display at the 2014 mundial in Brazil.
