Bechem United are through the finals of this year’s MTN FA Cup after they defeated Wa Rockets 2-0 in the first semi final game played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.

Both teams were looking forward to make their first ever appearance at the grand finale of the competition with Wa Rockets dominating the game in the first half despite a stalemate at the break.

Three minutes into the second half, Hamza Mohammed put Bechem United ahead after he drove the ball in from a through pass.

Wa Rockets fought for an equaliser and came closer a few times until Richard Baffour scored in the 70th to put the ball beyond the reach of the second tier side.

In the second game, second-tier side edged past Premier League side Liberty Professionals courtesy 3-1 on penalty shoot-out after 1-1 in 120 minutes.

It was the Dansoman based side who struck the first goal on the struck of half time through Latif Blessing.
But the Okwawu based side came into the strongly in the second half and Maclean Badu pulled even for the division one side in the 72nd minutes.

Both sides failed to find the back of the net in extra time and in the penalty shoot-out Okwawu United’s shot stopper Abass Mohammed was the hero for his side as he saved three kicks out of Liberty’s four kicks while Okwawu United in their four kicks scored three and missed one.
